Chilli`s Price Starts to Decline
The market price of chili, which previously surged up to Rp 100 thousand per kilogram, has started to decline.
At Cengkareng traditional market in West Jakarta for instance, the price of chili was already down to around Rp 40 thousand per kilogram. The decline occurred since the last three days.
Marsiah (52), one chili trader at the market said one sack of chili, equaling to 50 kilograms, which she used to buy from Kramatjati Main Market of East Jakarta Rp 3.5 million, was now only sold at Rp 2 million. Thus, she currently could trade the chili at Rp 40 thousand per kilogram to her customers. "This is because the chili supply has started to rise," said Marsinah, Tuesday (1/18).
Another trader M Silitonga, confirmed the decline of chili price, but saying prices of other commodities such as onion have otherwise increased.
"The price of chili is down, but the price of onions has increased," he said. One kilogram of onion, previously sold for 10-15 thousand, is now traded at Rp 25 thousand per kilogram.
