Select spices declines on subdued demand

  • Mumbai, Jan 25 (PTI) Copra Rajapur prices fell furtherat the spices market here today owing to reduced demand fromstockists coupled with poor export offtake.

    Elsewhere, copra Alapuzha and black pepper also declinedowing to lower domestic as well as retail buying.

    Meanwhile, copra Kozhikode firmed up on renewed demandfrom millers.
    Copra Rajapur Mumbai slumped by Rs 100 per quintal toRs 8,300 from Monday''s closing level of Rs 8,400 and copraoffice Alapuzha slipped by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 6,400 asagainst Rs 6,450 previousely.
    Black pepper moved down by Rs 2 per kilo to Rs 233/249from Rs 235/249.
    However, copra office Kozhikode rose by another Rs 50 perquintal to Rs 6,250 as compared to Rs 6,200 yesterday.
    Rest of spices closed steady in the absence of marketmoving factors.
    Following are today''s closing rates in Rs, with theprevious rates in brackets:
    Black pepper (per kg) 233/249 (235/249), ginger bleached(per kg) 220 (220), ginger unbleached (per kg) 240 (240),copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,400 (6,450), copraoffice Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,250 (6,200), copra RajapurMumbai (per quintal) 8,300 (8,400) and copra edible Mumbai(per quintal) 7,800 (7,800).
