Copra edible drops on sluggish demand, pepper gains
Mumbai, Feb 11 (PTI) Copra edible prices fell moderately at the spices market here today owing to lower stockists buying amid subdued domestic as well as export demand.
Meanwhile, black pepper moved up on good retail offtake.
Copra edible Mumbai declined by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 8,100 from Thursday''s closing level of Rs 8,200.
However, black pepper edged up by Rs 2/3 per kg to Rs 248/260 from overnight closing level of Rs 245/258.
Other spices closed unaltered in the absence of market moving factors.
Following are today''s closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets:
Black pepper (per kg) 248/260 (245/258), ginger bleached (per kg) 160 (160), ginger unbleached (per kg) 190 (190), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 7,100 (7,100), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 7,000 (7,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 8,900 (8,900) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 8,100 (8,200).
