Pepper slips on sluggish demand, adequate supply
Mumbai, Feb 16 (PTI) Black pepper prices dipped further in the spices market here today on lower demand from stockists amid fresh arrivals from key producing regions.
Meanwhile, ginger bleached and unbleached continued to remain steady in the absence of market-moving factors.
Black pepper fell by Rs five per kg to Rs 248-265 from Tuesday''s closing level of Rs 253-270.
There was no trade in copra varieties on account of "Id-E-Milad".
Following are today''s closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets:
Black pepper (per kg) 248/265 (253/270), ginger bleached (per kg) 160 (160), ginger unbleached (per kg) 190 (190), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) Closed (7,050), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) Closed (6,900), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) Closed (8,500) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) Closed (8,000).
