Rise in spot turmeric prices
On Tuesday (15 February 2011), the spot turmeric price improved by Rs. 200-300 per quintal as Erode bulk buyers and traders have received orders from various parts of North India.
In the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, the finger variety sold at Rs.7,499-10,685 per quintal and the root variety at Rs. 7,365-10,129. In the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger variety fetched Rs. 9,609-10,721 and the root variety fetched Rs.9,009-10,179.
In the Gobichettipalayam Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger variety sold at Rs. 9,169-11,269 and the root variety at Rs. 9,56511,150. In the Regulated Marketing Committee, the finger variety sold at Rs. 9,729-11,019 and the root variety at Rs. 9,619-10,890.
