Turmeric moves up on export demand
Turmeric prices rose by Rs 122 to Rs 9,928 per quintal in futures trading today on speculators buying, driven by reports of rising exports demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric prices for delivery in May contract rose by Rs 122, or 1.24 per cent to Rs 9,928 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,640 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in April contract moved up by Rs 62, or 0.61 per cent to Rs 10,226 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,000 lots.
Analysts said the rise in turmeric futures prices was supported by reports of fresh export enquiries.
